Manatees are great creatures with amazing traits. There are many different kinds of manatees. There are 4 kinds Florida, West African, Amazonian, and Antillean manatees. Most manatees are brown or gray. Their skin is thick, fat, and very hairy. In the picture below they have a tail that helps them swin in the water. Most manatees grow algae on their back. Manatees chatter to communicate to other manatees. Inside, they have very large lungs to help them stay under water for a long period of time. They do not have a diaphram.
