Manatees eat alot of food everyday. They are herbivores and eat about 44 different kinds of plants. Manatees also rarely eat algae. The calf first eats its mother's milk. Then, when it's immature, it starts eating seagrass. An adult manatee will eat many different kinds of plants. Then, what eats manatees? Alligators and crocodiles eat manatees because they usually swim in the same waters, but not only do they eat manatees, humans sometimes eat manatees as well. Humans are one of the biggest threats to manatees. Sometimes people hit manatees with their speed boats because manatees are slow moving animals so they don't have time to move out of the boats range. Also, we swim with manatees and when we get too close sometimes the baby and mom get separated so the babies die. Sometimes we scare them so they then go to a different area, but sometimes where they are is too cold so then they die from the cold.
