Sadly, manatees are endangered. Humans are one of the biggest threats. Most of the time manatees are easily hit by boats because they are are slow moving animals. When speed boats go too fast, they may hit a manatee. Almost 829 manatees have died beacuse of speed boats. We need to make sure not to go too fast, especially near manatee zones. The environment also kills manatees as well. Pollution may cause the loss of homes and habitats where manatees live. Garbage and chemicals may kill them too. Make sure to recycle and pick up trash so we can save these animals. Some animals eat manatees as well. Alligators and crocodiles eat them, which lowers the manatees rate. There is very little that we can do about this, but we can try to separate the animals so the manatees will not be eaten. We can all help the manatees.
